Cedar Raised Garden Bed
Build a 4x8 cedar raised bed that lasts a decade. Cut list, corner bracing, and soil volume math included.
Instructions
1. Cut four 2x6 cedar boards to 8 ft for the long sides.
2. Cut four 2x6 cedar boards to 4 ft for the short sides.
3. Cut four 2x4 cedar boards to 2 ft for corner bracing.
4. Drill pilot holes in each end of the 8 ft boards using a drill with a 1/8 in bit.
5. Attach the 8 ft boards to the 4 ft boards using 3 in exterior wood screws, two screws at each corner.
6. Install the 2 ft corner braces by placing them diagonally in each corner and securing with 3 in exterior wood screws.
7. Sand all edges and surfaces with 120-grit sandpaper to prevent splinters.
8. Fill the raised bed with approximately 32 cubic feet of soil, using a mix of topsoil, compost, and peat moss.
