Simple 100% cotton jersey t-shirt.
1. Gather all materials: 2 yards cotton jersey fabric, 1 spool sewing thread, sewing machine or needle, scissors, measuring tape, fabric chalk or marker, iron, ironing board, t-shirt pattern, pins or fabric clips.
2. Pre-wash the cotton jersey fabric to prevent shrinkage and iron it to remove wrinkles.
3. Lay the fabric flat on a clean surface.
4. Place the t-shirt pattern on the fabric and secure it with pins or fabric clips.
5. Use fabric chalk or marker to trace around the pattern, leaving a seam allowance as indicated.
6. Cut out the fabric pieces along the traced lines.
7. Identify the front and back pieces of the t-shirt.
8. With right sides together, pin the shoulder seams of the front and back pieces.
9. Sew the shoulder seams using a sewing machine or needle and thread.
10. Press the shoulder seams open with an iron.
11. Pin the side seams together, aligning the underarm areas.
12. Sew the side seams from the hem to the underarm.
13. Press the side seams open with an iron.
14. Fold the neckline edge inward and pin it in place.
15. Sew the neckline hem, ensuring it is even and secure.
16. Fold the sleeve edges inward and pin them in place.
17. Sew the sleeve hems.
18. Fold the bottom hem of the t-shirt inward and pin it in place.
19. Sew the bottom hem.
20. Turn the t-shirt right side out and give it a final press with the iron.
21. Inspect the t-shirt for any loose threads and trim as necessary.
22. Your classic t-shirt is complete.
