Cold Frame Mini Greenhouse
Extend your growing season by two months with a hinged cold frame. Covers venting, angle, and glazing options.
Instructions
1. Cut four 2x4s to 48 in for the long sides of the frame.
2. Cut four 2x4s to 24 in for the short sides of the frame.
3. Assemble the rectangular base by screwing the long sides to the short sides using 3 in wood screws.
4. Cut two 2x4s to 36 in for the angled support beams.
5. Attach the angled support beams to the back of the frame at a 45-degree angle using 3 in wood screws.
6. Cut a piece of plywood to 48 in by 24 in for the bottom of the frame and secure it to the base with 1 1/4 in wood screws.
7. Cut two pieces of 1/4 in thick acrylic sheet to 48 in by 24 in for the top glazing.
8. Hinge one of the acrylic sheets to the back of the frame using 2 in hinges, allowing it to open for ventilation.
9. Seal all edges with weatherproof wood sealant to protect the wood from moisture.
