Make a set of three drawstring bags in graduated sizes. Casing, cord, and a French seam finish for durability.
1. Cut three pieces of fabric: one 10x12 in, one 12x14 in, and one 14x16 in.
2. Fold down 1 inch along the top edge of each fabric piece to create a casing for the drawstring.
3. Sew a straight stitch along the folded edge of each casing, leaving a 1/4 in seam allowance.
4. Cut three pieces of cord: one 24 in, one 30 in, and one 36 in for each bag respectively.
5. Use a safety pin to thread the cord through the casing of each bag, pulling it through until both ends are even.
6. Sew the bottom of each bag with a French seam: place the fabric pieces right sides together, sew a 1/4 in seam along the bottom, trim the seam allowance, turn the bag inside out, and sew another 1/4 in seam along the bottom.
