Everyday Tote Bag

Instructions

1. Cut two rectangles from canvas measuring 15 in x 18 in for the body of the bag.

2. Cut two strips from canvas measuring 3 in x 24 in for the straps.

3. Sew a straight stitch along the long edges of each strap, 1/4 in from the edge, to create a finished look.

4. Fold the top edge of each rectangle down 1 in and sew a straight stitch across to create a hem.

5. Align the two rectangles right sides together and sew along the sides and bottom with a 1/2 in seam allowance.

6. Turn the bag inside out and press the seams flat with an iron.

7. To create a flat bottom, pinch the corners of the bag and sew across the corner at a 3 in depth to form a box shape.

8. Attach the straps by pinning them 3 in from the side seams on the inside of the bag, and sew in an 'X' pattern for reinforcement.
