Fold Flat Stool

by colby whitlock

Looks chic but it’s easier than you think. Literally made from a piece of circular plywood, and 2 u shaped pieces for the legs. Put together with hinges! Great as a side table too.

Instructions

1. Cut the circular plywood to your desired size using a jigsaw or circular saw. Sand the edges with medium grit sandpaper, then finish with fine grit sandpaper for a smooth surface.

2. Prepare the u-shaped metal or wooden leg pieces for the legs. Ensure they are of equal height and sturdy enough to support the stool.

3. Position one u-shaped leg piece on the underside of the circular plywood, aligning it with the edge.

4. Attach the first hinge to the u-shaped leg piece and the circular plywood using wood screws. Ensure the hinge allows the leg to fold flat against the plywood.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the second u-shaped leg piece on the opposite side of the circular plywood.

6. Test the folding mechanism by lifting the legs and ensuring they fold flat against the plywood.

7. If desired, apply wood glue to the hinge screws for added stability.

8. Sand any rough edges or surfaces, then apply wood finish or paint as desired. Allow to dry completely.

9. Your fold flat stool is now complete and ready for use.
