Limewash Accent Wall
Brush a mottled, old-world limewash finish on one wall. Includes the block brush and the cross-hatch technique.
Instructions
1. Prepare the wall by cleaning it with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris.
2. Mix 1 part hydrated lime with 2 parts water in a bucket until smooth, adding 1 part pigment for color if desired.
3. Use a block brush (4 in) to apply the limewash in a cross-hatch pattern, starting from the top of the wall and working downwards.
4. Apply the first coat evenly, covering the entire wall surface, and allow it to dry for 1-2 hours.
5. Once the first coat is dry, lightly mist the wall with water using a spray bottle to keep it damp.
6. Apply a second coat of limewash using the same cross-hatch technique, ensuring to blend into the first coat for a mottled effect.
7. Allow the second coat to dry for 24 hours before assessing the final appearance and making any touch-ups as needed.
