Rod Pocket Curtain Panels
Sew a pair of lined curtain panels to your exact window height. Covers measuring, hem weights, and rod pockets.
Instructions
1. Measure your window height and add 4 inches for the hem; cut two pieces of fabric, each 54 inches wide by your measured height plus 4 inches.
2. Cut two pieces of lining fabric, each 54 inches wide by your measured height plus 4 inches.
3. Place the main fabric and lining fabric right sides together; pin along the sides and bottom, leaving the top open.
4. Sew along the pinned edges with a sewing machine using a straight stitch, 1/4 inch from the edge.
5. Turn the fabric right side out; press the seams flat with an iron on medium heat.
6. Fold the top edge down 2 inches to create the rod pocket; press and pin in place.
7. Sew along the bottom edge of the folded top to secure the rod pocket, leaving the sides open.
8. Cut two 1-inch wide strips of fabric for the hem weights, each 12 inches long; sew them into the bottom hem of each panel for added weight.
9. Fold the bottom edge up 1 inch and press; fold up another inch and pin in place.
10. Sew along the top edge of the folded hem to secure it, completing the curtain panels.
